Cleary School for the Deaf Reopening Plan 22-23
Cleary School for the Deaf Reopening Plan
Updated for September 2022
Cleary School for the Deaf has updated our Reopening Plan in regard to the most updated Center for Disease Control’s guidance for schools.
- COVID-19 Exposure: When a person is exposed to COVID-19, it is recommended that those exposed wear a well-fitting mask for a full 10 day period and get tested at least 5 days after close contact, or sooner, if symptoms develop. This guidance applies to all, regardless of vaccination status or any prior history of COVID-19 infection.
- COVID-19 symptoms and positive test results: All children and adults who become symptomatic and/or test positive for COVID-19, will be required to follow the CDC’s Isolation Guidance. This includes:
- Students and staff who test positive will be required to isolate at home for 5 days. For those with symptoms, Day 1 is the first full day after symptom onset (day 0 is the day of symptom onset). For those with no symptoms, Day 0 is the day they were tested (not the day receiving the positive test results), and Day 1 is the first full day following the day they were tested. If symptoms develop within the 10 days of testing, the clock restarts at Day 0 on the day symptoms develop.
- Those with symptoms may return to school after 5 days if fever free (without fever reducing medication for 24 hours and symptoms are improving) and a mask is worn through Day 10. If infected individuals do not wish to wear a mask for their return to school/work, they will be required to isolate for a period of 10 days.
Please note: Cleary School for the Deaf will require students or staff to be sent home for symptoms of COVID-19 . They would then complete a 5 day isolation period before they may return to school. They would also have the option of producing a negative test result, if they so choose.
Additional Important Information:
The CDC continues to advise all that the best strategy to prevent severe illness remains staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations. Everyone, 6 months of age or older, is eligible for vaccination. Children 5 years and older are also eligible for a COVID-19 booster.
At Cleary School for the Deaf, please note, that all will be encouraged to wash hands frequently. Our custodial staff will continue to take all recommended precautions in sanitizing our school. Also, all will be reminded about how we can work together to stop the spread of germs.
Our school will follow a Remote Learning Plan only in cases of emergency. Should we need to utilize remote learning, as always, you would be notified via School Messenger and/or email.
By continuing to work together, we can maintain the best health possible for our students and staff. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.
